Klara, Mina and Tanutscha are a trio of fifteen-year-old girls who have been best friends since childhood. Over the summer they meet at Prinzenbad – known to them as the "Pool of the Princesses" – a large open-air swimming pool in the middle of Kreuzberg, an area of Berlin known for its cultural diversity. They talk, chat, eat and flirt with the boys in the sunbathing area. Mostly their conversations converge around love, sex and friendship. Sometimes they talk about future plans or their irritating, overly liberal mothers. These girls, with their straight charm and gruffly manners, stick together like glue, yet when it comes to their personal development and family backgrounds their lives couldn't be more different. On the brink of coming of age, they start searching for their own way of life. Over a couple of months, the director followed the girls through the streets of Berlin, creating an image of a precocious generation, in search for love and for something to hold on to, as they use their friendships to make up for everything that is so painfully absent from their lives at home.
