An intoxicating soundclash. Jörg Adolph’s playful on-the-road documentary observes a musical collaboration between two highly experimental groups. Everything goes into the creative mix - whether it be noisecore, minimal electronica or free jazz. The Notwist and the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra deftly blend different genres and musical styles. They blaze a trail through polymorphic sonic landscapes. The result is both frenetic and beautiful. From the recordings for the latest Notwist album, through collective rehearsals in Berlin, to performances in Hamburg, Amsterdam and Munich, the musical soulmates can always find something to improve. They constantly refine samples and arrangements. For these musicians it seems as if it’s simply a matter of always keeping the pieces moving. The film is, like the music, masterful, pleasantly incongruent, imbued with both a sense of effortlessness and a focused dedication. It reveals the outlook of a group of young musicians far removed from the world of multimedia megastars and is a fascinating document of our time. "There’s no escape from this circling place." The Notwist
