The back story to this portrait is as follows: Erwin Mürner, a Swiss pensioner, was kidnapped by aliens. That should put your mind at ease a little; otherwise you would be concerned. Mürner is obsessed with UFOs. It begs the question: is this a good way to live your life? With a hint of affection he begins to tell the story of his extraterrestrial encounter once again. Perhaps this devotion might be better directed towards his wife Sonja, his long-suffering companion on his adventures. The young Swiss director Jonas Meier treats the microcosmos he encounters in the Mürner household with a great deal of impartiality. His images stick closely to his protagonist’s vision – a dance between “reality and a bizarre imagination.” (J.Meier)
