JARDIN EN EL MAR
Mexico 2011 – Director: Thomas Riedelsheimer – Original language: English, Spanish – Subtitles: English – Length: 68 min.
“I love the idea of illustrating a narrative and it becoming absorbed into nature, being concealed and yet it remains present.”
The renowned Spanish sculptor, Cristina Iglesias (winner of the 2012 Großer Kunstpreis Berlin), wants to draw attention to the untouched natural beauty of the Gulf of California and designs an expansive underwater artwork to be situated there. In the process she explores the islands of the Gulf, learns to dive and, in the end, manages to convince everyone involved in her idea for a mythical narrative cast in concrete that will be consigned to the sea.
Over 4 years the film documents the passion and the struggle of an artist for her artwork and takes us to a magical place below sea level.
Simply sit back and witness! Maya Reichert
