Cuba, China and Iran: three countries, three women and one web… Blogging as a modern form of resistance. When a country’s press freedom is restricted, information these days seeks out new channels: mobile phones, blogs, Twitter, Facebook.
In Cuba, Yoani Sánchez blogs about the Cubans’ difficult everyday lives and criticises the ruling political system. In China, Zeng Jinyan lives under house arrest, cut off from the outside world. But the ‘Great Firewall of China’ can also be overcome. In Iran, Farnaz Seifi’s writing challenges discrimination and taboos. This is why she must leave Iran. For her, the internet is a place to mobilise people and a virtual home. Nora Moschüring

Yoani Sánchez will be present at the screening on 12th May.
