Nina Davenport is a 41-year-old film director with no children. What she had planned for this phase in her life was actually something quite different – living happy with a man and a child. After many failed relationships she now faces the decision of her life: Do I want a child? The principle of “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in a carriage” doesn’t seem right for her any more. What alternatives remain? Nina decides on motherhood without a partner, with sperm donated by a gay friend and her best friend as a replacement for a husband. She shows how women today can become mothers without men.
