EL INVIERNO DE PABLO
Spain 2012 – Director: Chico Pereira – Original language: Spanish – Subtitles: English – Length: 76 min.
“Live your life while it lasts instead of being untrue to yourself.” For Pablo this means watching television, smoking and disagreeing with his wife when she tries to persuade him to attend one of the courses in the retirement home. Pablo is one of the last generation of miners in the Spanish province of Almadén. The mines were shut down in 2000.
When Pablo wanders among the old buildings, when he tries to stop smoking, when he reluctantly dances with his wife and smiles to himself while doing it… a piece of his past is always with him. PABLO’S WINTER is a quiet, poignant portrait of a man and a town that must both reinvent themselves. Jette Mehlberg
English/Original Title: Pablo's Winter. Camera: Julian Schwanitz. Editing: Nick Gibbon. Music: Juan Alberto Navazo. Production: Opa Films in association with Scottish Documentary Institute and Screen Academy. Producer: xxx.
