It is the earth of Andalusia that makes Rosario happy. The young artist has designed an open-air park of orange trees in the region. She grew up in the mountain town of Coín but she left the security and protection of her family to go and study in a bigger city on the Atlantic coast as she wants to see and experience as much as possible from life. Her grandmother Lucia just shakes her head over her granddaughter's lifestyle. Drugs and sex, there was no such thing in her day. "A life without a husband is like a tree without shade", she says. However as an 80-year-old widow, she is doing quite well: she goes dancing, performs in the village theatre and has started to learn how to write as she did not have the chance to go to school as a child. She raised her daughter to follow her strict Christian faith but Paquí didn't conform to any expectations. She chose a husband whom the village did not approve of because he came from North Africa. In Franco's patriarchal dictatorship, she fulfilled her modest dream of independence by earning her own money. The three entirely different women are deeply united through their family bond and joie de vivre. This is the story of three women, of three generations, but one and the same family.
