Although she wasn't even born in Bavaria, she was a real girl from Schwabing. Hardly anybody knows Gisela Jonas-Dialer, but "Gisela from Schwabing" still evokes memories. Fifty years ago her songs provoked uproars. Listening to them today though, there is hardly anything scandalous about them. They are lovable, entertaining and slightly frivolous.

It all started at "Mommy's Brewery" in Schwabing, where young Gisela, after having escaped from her narrow minded hometown to Munich, worked as a waitress. She had her first performances with songs by Zarah Leander. In 1952 she opened up her own bar. "The old Schwabing was where Gisela had her pub!" is what her old admirers still claim.

In any way, her life was exciting-and very different from what one would expect from a woman, who made the headlines in the fifties and sixties with her songs.
