DANSE LA DANSE, NACHO DUATO
France, Spain 2011 – Director: Alain Deymier – Original language: Spanish – Subtitles: English, French – Length: 66 min.
"Break a leg!" The curtain rises and we have come full circle. Twenty years after his debut as choreographer of the Spanish National Ballet, Nacho Duato is back again in the Russian capital - this time to bid farewell to his troupe with a final performance at the Bolshoi Theatre. On stage he demands absolute discipline; behind the scenes he is a friend and mentor. The dancers have confidence in him and his passion. They dance for him like marionettes on invisible strings. The stage design is borne of fantasy, with a richness of form and an interplay between light and darkness. This is carried to extremes in his masterpiece: “Multiplicity. Forms of Silence and Emptiness.” For one last time Duato dances here to please Johann Sebastian Bach. The portrait of a unique dance choreographer and artist. Carolina Piotrowski
