Miguel Adrover, a Mallorcan farmer’s son, moved to New York and changed the fashion world. Celebrated by the critics, he lived the American dream and had the chance to realise his vision. But, as quickly as his rise, then came his fall. The events of 9/11 traumatised the formerly tolerant city. Adrovers’ Arabian inspired collection in Autumn 2001 proved to be his undoing. His financial backers went bankrupt and, after 18 years, he was finally compelled to go back to Mallorca.
Regine Lettner portrays the eccentric, freethinker and artist, Adrover, as she tells his story and lets him recount it himself. In the process, the film alternates between past and present, dreams and despair. Eva Weinmann
