This film offers a unique view of the life of prominent contemporary composer Arvo Pärt from Estonia. Director Dorian Supin followed the composer during a 3-year period, through rehearsals, premieres, seminars, meetings and recollections, and the film in turn gives a solid portrait of his musical thinking.

Pärt (born in 1935) has been nominated twice for a Grammy, and in 1996 he was elected to The American Academy of Arts and Letters. He is known for his soundtracks of movies like "Heaven" by Tom Tykwer. Once he asked a janitor how a composer should write his music. "What a question!" he answered. "He has to love each sound, each single sound."
