It quickly becomes clear that hip hop is not only about a style of music but is also about an attitude towards life. High walls, countless security doors, barred windows and isolation. This is the reality for a young man in the insular world of youth detention. He lives in solitude, reads, writes and trains to be a mechanic. He has scarce contact with his fellow detainees. If everything goes well the young man will soon be released. He dreams of his life on the outside, a life with his girlfriend, with children and a secure job: “It is the little things that represent freedom.” Over the course of a day the director Daniel Jonas observes the offender going about his everyday life in prison. The identity of the young man is concealed but not his thoughts about loneliness and a life behind bars.
