Politics from a different perspective. In 2006 in the Democratic Republic of Congo two film students set out to capture the legend of the “leopards of Zaire,“ who in 1974 were the first black African national football team ever to take part in a World Cup competition. Nowadays, while their glory days are long since over, the people’s faith in football and dreams of better times remain. The film students hunt down former “leopards” to find out what has become of them. Meanwhile they come across a society in upheaval as, at the same time as their research, the first free elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo are taking place. Their film is an absorbing documentation that effortlessly unites football and politics.
