How is film narration changing due to the development of new technologies? Sponsored by the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for New Media (BLM) and endowed with 2,500 euros, the DOK.digital Award seeks innovative solutions for the storytelling of documentary or journalistic factual content.

The project tells the story of women in the male-dominated world of competitive sport across all media, through the experiences of four female Olympic athletes and a female coach.

Dörthe Eickelberg
Presenter and director (Labo M)

Dörthe Eickelberg is a director and presenter. She graduated from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, where she is also a guest lecturer today. After touring as a comedian and improv actress, she was hired by ARTE as a presenter for the daily science magazine XENIUS. Meanwhile she cofounded Labo M and she realized the award-winning arte documentary series CHICKS ON BOARDS. Her book THE NEXT WAVE IS YOURS was just published as a top title by PENGUIN BOOKS.

Laura König-Svetozarova
(Hochschule München)

Born in Munich and raised with a Russian-German background, Laura König-Svetozarova has found her passion for film through acting and music. In 2020, she began her studies in Photodesign at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, where she was able to flourish in the field of visual art. One of her notable achievements was the documentary film "Olympic Women", in which she was involved in the production, camera work, and post-production, earning the team a special recognition at the "Flimmern&Rauschen" Children & Youth Film Festival in the category of 22-26 year old filmmakers. Her short film "Orchid", which she directed, produced, filmed, and edited, was showcased at an exhibition in ZIRKA Munich in collaboration with SOMA. Laura currently works at a film production company in Hamburg.

Gayatri Parameswaran is an awarded director and producer of immersive works that examine contemporary issues through a critical lens. She co-founded NowHere Media, a Berlin-based storytelling studio working at the intersection of technology and social change. Her work has been exhibited at the Venice Film Festival, Festival de Cannes, Tribeca, and SXSW. Gayatri has received numerous accolades, including the Tribeca Storyscapes Award, SXSW Best Use of Immersive Arts, and the Lumiere Award.

Raphael Perret

Raphael Perret studied interactive media and scenography. He explores the tension between physical and virtual reality in his research-based art practice and applies his knowledge to the design and implementation of media installations in exhibitions, smartphone applications, digital products, interactive films, and games. His projects have been exhibited from Zurich, London, Rio de Janeiro to Gwanju.

Anja Reiß

Anja Reiss works as an independent author and director in Berlin, Freiburg and Zürich.? Alongside her realization of documentaries, she also develops interactive formats. Based on her feature film Truth Detectives she is producing the game Truth Detectives in collaboration with Raphael Perret, funded by the Digital Content Fund of the MFG Baden-Württemberg.

Gulseren Olcum, born in Berlin in 1985. She is an editor at ZDF. She has been working as a full-time correspondent for the Y-Kollektiv since 2016 to 2022. She completed her undergraduate degree in Near East Studies in Berlin and London and a master's degree in Journalism in Aarhus and Sydney. She took on the role as an editor for migazin.de and, with her team, she won the Grimme Online Award for her work. She went on to volunteer for the Bayerischen Rundfunk (Bavarian State Network) and has presented on radio, television and the web. She was the Juliane Bartel Media Award for her documentaries "Sugarbabes - Escort and rinsing (?) as a part-time job" and "Sexism in football". She also won the Spanish television award, Premios Ondas, for her documentary "Turks, decide!". Gulseren is also a fellow of the Mercator Foundation.
