The formal qualities of the films in our DOK.panorama competition are as diverse as their themes and represent the diversity of documentary narratives.
Rachel "Ruchie" Freier from Brooklyn is an Orthodox Jewish woman, mother of six children, lawyer and wildly determined to turn patriarchy in her community upside down: She founds the first volunteer women's rescue service for women. Director Paula Eiselt accompanies the courageous mission. She succeeds in gaining a multi-layered insight into the religious Jewish life of Brooklyn.
We present the German premiere of the film at DOK.fest München 2019.
