Jakob Gross studied cultural Anthropology, psychology and religious studies in Munich and was a guest student at the Prasad Film Academy in South India. His Master thesis dealt with the political agency and constructions of masculinity within film star fan clubs in Chennai, India. Since 2008 he has been producing his own documentary films and has been working as a cinematographer and video journalist for broadcasters. Jakob furthermore teaches at the film school Macromedia and has recently written an article on ‘The habitus of the documentary field’ in the volume “Dokumentarfilm. Schulen – Projekte – Konzepte” by Edmund Ballhaus (ed.) (2013). He has been  permanent staff of Documentary Campus Master School and DOK.fest Munich film festival. As an associate member of the Cluster of Excellence of the Heidelberg University he works on new forms of representation in visual anthropology. In 2013 he has started his own production company FinkFilms.
