MILA SEEKING SENIDA

HR / SRB / BIH / SI 2010 – Director: Robert Tomic Zuber – Original language: Bosnian, Serbian – Subtitles: English – Length: 81 min.

Senida was eleven months old when Serbian troops entered the Bosnian village of Caparde and she, together with her mother and sister, disappeared without a trace. In 1993 she was adopted by a Serbian family in Belgrade who named her Mila. Now as a teenager she decides to go back to Bosnia to find out more about the events of the past. In the process she meets relatives, eyewitnesses and officials who are apparently on her side and want to help her. Yet the search leads her into a labyrinth with numerous dead ends and the farther into it she goes, the more she is confronted with lies, half-truths and denials. For Mila/Senida the search for truth is also a search for her own identity. But even as her name is erased from the plaque of the missing in the cemetery many questions remain unresolved - for her and equally for her country.
