Days of wrath. On August 15th 2005, Israel began disengagement of the Gaza Strip. In a unilateral move decided by the Israeli government, the Jewish settlers were evacuated from their homes and villages. The Israeli Defence Force is in charge of the evacuation, a mission which is highly controversial not only in the public opinion, but throughout the troops. While the radical settlers resist their removal in every possible manner – marching against the troops, blocking roads and crying in despair – the Army tries to take control of the situation using as little force as possible.

5 Days tracks the key events of the Disengagement over the course of five days. Yoav Shamir obtained unprecedented access to the Israeli Army and the settlers, as well as to General Dan Harel, Chief of the Southern Command, who was in charge of the disengagement. In rapid pace the film tells the story of a unique moment in history from very different perspectives and provides a thrilling narrative of Israeli society in all its complexity.
