Welcome to the brave new world of offshore call centers, where thousands of young Indians make a living providing customer service to people in Kentucky, California or Idaho. To fit American business hours they work their 14-hour shifts during the nights. By telephone and internet they transport themselves to other continents, while the chance of their bodies ever leaving the country is almost nil.
John & Jane takes us into the lives of six call-center agents in Mumbai. They call themselves Glen or Sydney, dye their hair blond and lighten up their skin. They use westernized New Age rituals to find themselves and dream of an All-American life, while they sleep away their days in the tropical heat of India.
