“We got rid of the president – so what? Nothing has changed.” That is one young Egyptian’s disillusioned summary of his country’s current situation. He is one of the young protagonists who Petr Lom follows after the overthrow of Mubarak. After the euphoria on Tahrir Square, disenchantment becomes increasingly widespread. The military and police still reign arbitrarily; people are still being arrested and tortured. Lom’s observational documentary calmly displays a complex panorama of society, which goes beyond media hysteria and draws a tentative conclusion of the revolution. Andrea Kuhn
