Shahriyar is a binman in Iranian Kurdistan. In his free time he is writing a fantasy novel about an imagined princess like those in “1001 Nights.” Shahriyar feels strongly about his writing. He takes part in writing workshops and is looking for a publisher. But the doors are closed to him. He cannot escape the position that God intended for him on the bottom rung of society. That is what he is told. People make fun of the writing binman who wants to fulfil his dreams. A strange and touching portrait of a man who doesn’t give up within an apparently absurd social order.
