Maia Lekow

Maia Lekow (Director/Producer) is an award winning Kenyan musician, filmmaker and composer. In 2009 the husband and wife team founded Circle and Square Productions, a creative production company producing film and music content in Nairobi. Maia also performs around the world as a touring musician. Their first directorial debut, The Letter premiered at IDFA in 2019 and it was supported by Sundance Documentary Fund, IDFA Bertha Fund, Hot Docs Blue Ice, Visions Sud Est and Docubox. The story explores issues around land, superstition and killing of elders currently happening within Maia's coastal homeland.
