Darío Aguirre

Darío Aguirre grew up in Ecuador and worked there as a painter, musician and performance artist. In 1999 he went to Germany and studied Visual Communication/Media at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HfbK). 2004-2013 he organized the short film festival "ambulart" in Germany, Ecuador and Mexico. Lives and works as author, editor and director in Hamburg. In 2020 he founded the film production company Tiempo Filmproduktion GmbH & Co. KG. His films have been screening at festivals worldwide including Santa Barbara International Filmfestival (competition), Berlinale (Lola Section), Visions du Réel Nyon and have received numerous awards including "Best Documentary" Ecuador, "Best Documentary" Festival Cinélatino Toulouse, "Special Mention" Festival Max Ophüls.
