Opening film THE WHALE AND THE RAVEN

In THE WHALE AND THE RAVEN director Mirjam Leuze accompanies two whale researchers to the fjords of the west coast of Canada. Like the remaining natives of the First-Nations, they have an intense spiritual connection to the whales and nature, and together they fight the announced invasion of super tankers to transport liquefied gas to China. This would destroy this unique whale sanctuary. A story of David versus Goliath - and a fascinating look at British Columbia, where centuries of living in harmony with nature are at stake.

The film can be seen at our opening on 8 May at the Deutsches Theater. This is the prelude to five evenings in the hall with 1,400 seats: In the CINEMA AT ITS BEST series, a total of nine documentary film premieres will take place from 9 to 12 May. The directors will present their films in person, often together with their protagonists.

Advance sales have begun, tickets are available at www.deutsches-theater.de/dokfest.
