DOK.fest at the International Weeks against Racism

As part of the International Weeks against Racism, we present EINZELTÄTER TEIL 1: MÜNCHEN, which is not only a socially and politically highly relevant film, but above all a compassionate, deeply moving cinematic chronicle: The first documentary film in the Einzeltäter trilogy is dedicated to the bereaved families of the victims of the right-wing terrorist attacks on 22 July 2016 at the Olympia shopping centre in Munich. The film was shown at DOK.fest München 2023 in the competition series DOK.deutsch. Parts 2 and 3 deal with the racist attacks in Halle (2019) and Hanau (2020).

Our guests: relatives of the victims of the attack will be present as guests for a subsequent film and audience discussion | Moderator: Pablo Bücheler (DOK.fest München)

Deutschland 2023 – Director: Julian Vogel – Original language: Albanian, German – Subtitles: German, None

In July 2016, nine people were killed in a racist-motivated attack at the Olympia Shopping Centre in Munich. The film gives the surviving relatives a voice. In an instant, their lives came apart at the seams. Now they are campaigning for the state to classify the shooting not as a killing spree but a right-wing extremist attack. A compassionate, deeply moving chronicle. Ysabel Fantou
