DOK.fest Screening & Studio Talk: THE TERRITORY

Screening and Q&A with Alex Pritz

This year's studio talks, in cooperation with the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF), will focus on diversity in the documentary film. We will take a closer look at three documentaries selected from the official festival program, which are characterised by the approach of a diverse production process. The respective screenings will be followed by an in-depth discussion with the film team. Moderated by the Documentary Film and Television Journalism Department, they will talk about making methods, approaches as well as hurdles and solutions.

The indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau live a secluded life in the middle of the Brazilian jungle. Young Bitaté leads them in a fight for their land, which they must defend against settlers and smallholders. Since Bolsonaro’s election, illegal forest clearance fires in the Amazon have increased and violence is tolerated. A visually powerful eco-thriller from the perspective of the indigenous population. We present the German premiere of the film.
