German Documentary Film Music Award
The German Documentary Film Music Award honours compositions that combine in a special way with the documentary narrative. Jana Irmert receives the 7th award for her score to Florian Barons STRESS. The film allows us to participate in the experiences of five young veterans of the war in Afghanistan. "Jana Irmert's composition," according to the jury, "not only reflects the protagonists' permanent state of mental alarm, but also creates an echo chamber for the audience's thoughts and feelings.
We show the film at the award ceremony in the presence of the prizewinner. The German Documentary Film Music Award is endowed with 5,000 euros and is donated by the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung and supported by the Förder- und Hilfsfonds des Deutschen Komponistenverbandes DKV.
In slow motion and accompanied by an oppressive collage of sound, the experience of five young veterans from the war in Afghanistan unfolds. Without showing any violence, Florian Baron gives us an intimate insight into the after-effects of the front line.
