German Documentary Film Music Award 2020: DIE LETZTEN ÖSTERREICHER
Sponsored by Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung, supported by the assistance fund of the German Association of Composers (DKV)
This year the German Documentary Film Music Award goes to Klemens Bittmann, Christian Bakanic and Christofer Frank for their music for the film DIE LETZTEN ÖSTERREICHER by Lukas Pitscheider.
From the jury statement:
"In a round dozen musical islands, the trio creates a harmonious and perfectly integrated world of sound, which is atmospherically enchanting. What could have been a nostalgic journey to one of the last enclaves of the Habsburg monarchy, develops here - especially in the final title - into a successful synthesis of quoted folk sound and powerful compositional energy."
The award winners
Klemens Bittmann (violin and mandola) and Christian Bakanic (accordion) studied music and work as freelance artists and composers. Christofer Frank trained as a sound designer and sound engineer in the USA and works as a freelance film composer, music producer and sound designer. All three prizewinners work in Vienna and Graz. Further information about them can be found on the artists' websites: www.klemensbittmann.at, www.christianbakanic.com and www.audio.co.at.
