This aesthetically impressive film tells us about her work and everyday life in this idyllic non-place.

His rickety vehicle always needs fixing, money is scarce and the next hit of drugs is nigh. In sensitively composed images, KABUL, CITY IN THE WIND depicts life in Afghanistan beyond the clichés.
KAPELA The Band – KAPELA (Slowakei, Tschechische Republik 2018, Ladislav Kaboš, DOK.panorama). The seven members of the gypsy band Lomnické Čháve come from a Roma settlement and dream of making it big. Sensitively observed and with uplifting music the film tells the story of their journey, struggles, enthusiasm, failures and perseverance.
KINDER (Deutschland 2019, Nina Wesemann, Münchner Premieren). A moment’s pause on the threshold between childhood and youth. Marie, Arthur, Emine and Christian are living in this state of limbo in Berlin, unbeknownst to each other. A filmic snapshot that engages with their wild, unfamiliar world.
Kinderkino - PHIL UND DAS TRAURIGSEIN (Deutschland 2018, Marco Giacopuzzi, DOK.education). Where lies the line between sad and very sad, 11-year-old Phil is asked by his best friend. And Phil can give wonderfully reflected and clear answers - because he knows what he is talking about.
Kinderkino: 2BRÜDER – 2 BRÜDER (Niederlande 2009, Hilt Lochten, DOK.education). We are special brothers, says 11-year-old Rino, who is a fantastic swimmer. His 9-year-old brother Nik is his biggest fan. But Nik can't be there often: he suffers from a neuromuscular disease and sits in a wheelchair.

Stoehr draws a multi-layered and touching portrait of Klaus Wildenhahn, the filmmaker, writer and man. In memoriam.
LA DISGRÂCE – SCARS (Frankreich 2018, Didier Cros, DOK.panorama). The sight of a disfigured face, far from the established beauty ideals, is difficult to bear. The same goes for those afflicted. A revealing portrait of women and men whose fate it is to fall outside the norm.
LES PLAGES D'AGNÈS (Frankreich 2008, Agnès Varda, DOK.special). At the age of 80, French filmmaker and artist Agnès Varda shot her own filmic autobiography in 2008. Poetic, playful and humorous, she reflects on her life, her works, cinema - and the beaches that were important to her.
LES VAGUES DU PLAT PAYS (Schweiz 2018, Yan Sterckx, Student Award). Pui is a modest man. He belongs to the Urak Lawoi, an indigenous people of sea nomads. As the owner of a boat he lives from fishing and the boom of Thai tourism. At night, when the others celebrate, he is there - at the other end of the world - for his children.
LET THE BELL RING (Deutschland 2018, Christin Freitag, Student Award). Malcolm has a dream: in the end, when he can’t feel the fatigue and pain any more, his fists are hoisted into the air: “The Winner is…!” This young man from LA’s reality consists of poverty, a lack of opportunities and a dream. A boxer, a drama, a film.
LOS REYES (Chile, Deutschland 2018, Bettina Perut, Ivan Osnovikoff, DOK.panorama). They can be found here in all weathers in Los Reyes, the oldest skate park in Santiago de Chile, where youth hangs out. This is home to two stray dogs, Chola and Football. A portrait of a section of Chilean society from an unusual perspective.
LOS VIEJOS – THE OLDIES (Großbritannien, Cuba, Venezuela 2018, Rosana Matecki, DOK.panorama). Three elderly musicians in Santa Clara, Cuba. Despite their advanced age, Zaida, Cándido and Bringuez’s passion has not faded in the least. A film about growing old that does not romanticise and celebrates the joy of living.
LOSING ALASKA (Niederlande, Großbritannien, Tschechische Republik 2018, Tom Burke, DOK.focus humaNature). While Trump casts doubt on climate change, in Alaska, as the permafrost melts at an ever-increasing rate, a town is sinking into the sea. Forgotten by the rest of America, the Yupik in their corrugated metal huts are seeing their community disintegrate.
