The Perspectives offer a platform for dealing with media policy, aesthetic and technical questions.

In case studies, top-class panels, workshops or workshop discussions we discuss challenges in the industry and question narrative trends and the effects of technical innovations on the practice of filmmakers and the perception of the public.

We see ourselves as an interface between the industry and the festival audience and invite all interested parties to get to know the work of renowned or up-and-coming filmmakers and to exchange views on new trends in documentary film.

The digital live programme of Perspektiven has been completed since 14 May. If you missed something, you have the opportunity to watch the recordings of the workshops, panels, discussions and consultations until the end of the festival on 24 May. You will find the links to them in the respective events or on the overview page.

Missed the event? – No problem, here you can find the recordings of the Live Events Perspectives – News

For the latest reason, the Perspectives cannot take place in the usual way. We are currently working on transferring our formats into virtual space in order to be able to offer the documentary film industry high-quality workshops and discussion rounds again this year. In order to give all members of the industry the opportunity to continue networking and training, the Perspektiven @home program will be free of charge. From April 20 you can find the digital formats here.

International Industry Events

The exchange of ideas is now more important than ever before, not only for the documentary film industry. With our international online-events Networks for Future! – Joining Forces for the Documentary Film Industry and Playground Documentary we are overcoming closed borders to bring the European industry together, in order to continue a fruitful exchange and to learn from each other. – The Future of Storytelling, the prize for new narrative formats, seeks answers to the question of how facts and stories will be told in an extremly connected world in the future. The five nominated projects will be presented at @home. You can find the selected projects here.
This event will be held in german language.

The spread of the coronavirus and the associated restrictions on public life have a massive impact on the work of film-makers. There is a great deal of uncertainty, government rules are not always clearly formulated. With the legal advice workshop and the individual advice of the Kompetenzteam Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft we react to this situation and offer our local industry the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information.
The consultations will be held in german language.
